Senior Software Platform Engineer

As a software platform engineer, you’ll be researching, developing and maintaining solutions that are focused on maintaining our development stack relevant and optimized while providing a better development experience for 300+ engineers.

What will you do?

  • ​Define, implement and follow company-wide software best practices
  • Develop tools that automate painful processes
    • e,g, Slack bots, CLI tools
  • Research, design and implement solutions for problems at scale
    • deployment configuration strategies
    • service to service communication unification
  • Supporting our engineering teams to overcome roadblocks
  • Maintain and extend our CI Job definition repository
  • Develop our Open Source service catalog
    • github.com/kiwicom/the-zoo
  • Contribute to Open Source upstream dependencies when needed
  • Administrate third party software we self-host
    • e.g. GitLab, Sentry, SonarQube
  • Code reviews focused on quality and functionality
  • Keep track of new technologies being available, evaluate and promote them to our engineering

What do we expect?

  • Fluent English, both spoken and written
  • Extensive knowledge of software development and its technologies
    • Good knowledge of design patterns
    • Deep understanding of language internals
    • Code that it’s readable, maintainable and scalable
    • Idiomatic code with correct usage of the language’s strengths 
    • Use the right tool for the problem
  • Experience with web development
    • API design and implementation
    • Database schema design
    • Microservices communication
  • Experience building and optimizing CI/CD pipelines
  • Solid experience with Docker-based workflows
  • Advanced knowledge debugging software
  • Passion for problem solving
  • Analytical mind, attention to details

  • Experience with Python, Go or Javascript
  • Experience with development focused on developer tools
  • Familiar with AWS or GCP’s PAAS solutions
  • Familiar with Kubernetes
